| Q | Who is eligible to play little league baseball? |
| A | All children (boys and girls) between the ages of 5-15 (as of May 1st) are eligible to play. |
| Q | What age divisions do you have? |
| A | There are five age divisions:T-Ball – ages 5-6 Pee Wee – ages 7-8 Minor League – ages 9-10 Major League – ages 11-12 Junior League – ages 13-14 |
| Q | Can girls play? |
| A | Yes, girls are eligible and encouraged to play. |
| Q | How many kids are on each team? |
| A | According to Little League rules, teams will consist of at least 11 and not more than 15 players. |
| Q | Does everyone get to play? |
| A | Absolutely! One of the primary goals of Dubuque Little League is equality, which means that all children, regardless of their ability will be playing equal amounts. All coaches have been encourage to rotate player positions, and batting order whenever possible. |
| Q | How are teams determined? |
| A | Players participate in a Player Placement Day, which gives league coaches the opportunity to evaluate each player’s skills and abilities. A player draft is then held where coaches select players for their teams. Special emphasis is placed on talent being equally distributed across all teams. Likewise, emphasis is placed on selecting players by age so that all teams have the same number of players of the same age. |
| Q | Will there be playoffs after the season? |
| A | Yes, check the website for information. |
| Q | I just learned about Dubuque Little League. Can my child still sign up and play this season? |
| A | Check the Dubuque Little League if you would like to have your child added to the waiting list. |
| Q | Is this the same Little League that I see on TV each summer? |
| A | Yes, Dubuque Little League is an approved member of the Iowa District 2, Little League. We have received charter approval from Little League Inc. Williamsport, Pa., which is the organization that hosts the Little League World Series. |
| Q | Will my child have an opportunity to play in the Little League World Series? |
| A | Dubuque Little League selects tournament teams at the Minor, Major, and Junior League levels. These teams play in the Iowa District 2 tournaments. Should they advance out of that tournament, they will play in state, and possibly regional tournaments in an attempt to qualify for the Little League World Series. |
| Q | How were team sponsors selected? |
| A | The Dubuque Little League Board contacted several local business earlier this year and requested a donation to help us start the league. Team sponsors donated $400 or more and are eligible to have their name printed on a team uniform. |
| Q | Is it too late to make a donation to Dubuque Little League? If not, is there a minimum amount that is required? |
| A | It is never too late to make a donation. Please email the Dubuque Little League and indicate you would like to make a donation. All donations (large or small) will be accepted and appreciated. |
| Q | How can I get on the Dubuque Little League Board? |
| A | Please contact the Dubuque Little League President, if you would like to join the Board of Directors. |
| Q | How will I know if the league games are cancelled due to rain? |
| A | There will be multiple ways to check the status of league games:The Dubuque Little League website will post game status information on the home page. Game cancellations will be announced on local radio stations. Head coaches will attempt to contact parents if games are cancelled. Derby Grange Golf will have a phone message indicating if games are cancelled. |
